We believe generous architecture can only arise from a diverse and equitable work environment. We regret that the lack of representation and systemic issues in our profession have resulted in unequal access to opportunity at all levels. At SO–IL, we are doing our part to change that.
We strive for cultural, economic, racial, and gender diversity in our recruiting.
Our upper management has been and will continue to be led by a minimum of 50% female and BIPOC leaders.
We mandate 12.5% Minority-Owned Business Enterprise (MWBE) partners when compiling project teams.
By 2022, we commit to offer 5% or more of employee time to pro-bono services and will donate 2% of sales to charitable causes.

Our architecture, as well as practice, cannot exist in the void of concern for the environment.
In our day-to-day operation, we work towards zero waste and pollution, low impact, and high energy efficiency.
As architects, we continue to identify resources to help project teams select sustainable alternatives and avoid the use of harmful materials in our designs.
We are working to develop the capacity to measure the embodied and operational carbon of each project. Our goal is to release an environmental impact report to create transparency into our practices within the next two years.
